Discuss David McCullough’s The Wright Brothers, at this historic church that started its life as the Euclid Avenue United Brethren Church which included members Orville and Katharine Wright! Bishop Milton Wright was present at the laying of the original cornerstone on May 28, 1911.  A 50 minute book discussion will be followed by a tour of the church, which is a City of Dayton Historic Landmark and has been designated with an Ohio Historical Marker.  Mt Enon Missionary Baptist Church, an African American church founded in 1925, purchased the United Brethren Church building in 1962 and remains a vibrant presence today. Their facilities are available for event rental.  This event is part of the Miami Valley Big Read Celebration. Free and Open to the public.
 
Come early to explore the Wright-Dunbar neighborhood, where the Wright Brothers designed the airplane and where Paul Laurence Dunbar began his writing career. Mount Enon Missionary Baptist church is within walking distance of the Paul Laurence Dunbar House (Free admission, Open Saturday 10am-4pm with the last tour at 3:30pm) and the National Aviation Trail’s Wright Dunbar Interpretive Center (Free admission and maps, Open Saturdays 9am-5pm)
