Drop by Wright Library to learn more about gardening with native plants
Wild habitat is being quickly replaced by office complexes, shopping centers, new housing developments, and the pesticide-managed lawns that surround them. Pollinators can’t survive in these new environments, and unfortunately humans can’t survive without pollinators.
That’s why people around the country are using their own small pieces of land (or even containers) to support birds, butterflies, and other pollinators. Native plants feed native pollinators! These plants are hardy, beautiful, and actually require LESS work than traditional lawns.
Visit both the Sun Garden and Shade Garden and get advice from experienced native plant gardeners. At 7:30 participants will be invited to view the backyard of a nearby house, whose owner has slowly been adding native plants over the last ten years to create a homegrown habitat.
