At this two-part program, families will find inspiration in the inventive creations of students from Hillel Academy and enjoy free-building with cardboard and child-safe tools. Join us at 1:30pm for an artist reception from the students of Hillel Academy. They will be speaking about the cardboard inventions they created, as inspired by selected masterworks of American art. Their pieces will remain on display at the library until June 1. Then, at 3pm, the free-building begins! Copious cardboard and child-safe tools will be provided.

Wild About Wildlife: Wild Hearts Zoo

Bring your wild self to the library to meet 5-7 live animals, most likely including a red-tailed hawk, a barn owl and an African pygmy hedgehog. Dress up like an animal and enjoy activities before and after the 1 hour educational and interactive program.

Read-a-Thon on the Lawn and Community Open House

Special guest performers are Oakwood residents, musicians, and artists Michael and Sandy Bashaw. They will play gentle music throughout the Read-a-Thon and finish the program out (approximately 30 minutes beginning at 11:30am) with a participatory drum improvisation.
