Stop by to connect with neighbors and nature at a celebration of native plants and the library's new Native Plant Gardens. Garden volunteers will be recognized, and Scott Hall, Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of Dayton, will give a short talk about the importance of nature and of community cooperation to mental health. In addition, David Nolin, retired Conservation Director for Five Rivers MetroParks and author of Discovery and Renewal on Huffman Prairie, will be on hand to sell his book. ($40 cash or check)
Learn how you can cultivate biodiversity in your own yard with local experts who will be available to answer questions and discuss various topics related to native plants, pollinators, birds, and other wildlife necessary for a thriving planet.
The social will be held behind the library in Katharine Wright Park or in case of inclement weather, the Community Room.
For a jump start on native plants visit Homegrown National Park, a grassroots movement that grew out of the book Nature's Best Hope.
