Founder of Dayton Holocaust Resource Center recounts personal stories of survival

Renate Frydman and her family escaped from Germany on Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass), November 9-10, 1938, when Nazi thugs terrorized Jewish people all over Germany, destroying their homes, businesses, and synagogues. Years later after settling in Dayton, Renate met and married Anschel “Charlie” Frydman, a Polish Jew whose entire family had been killed in Nazi concentration camps. Anschel spent the War escaping from Nazi slave labor camps, hiding and eluding the Germans for years. He ended up in the forests of Poland fighting for freedom as a Partisan.

Join Renate Frydman, Ph.D. to hear more about their stories. Her book, Anschel’s Story: Determined to Survive, recounts the events of her late husband’s teenage years and will be available for purchase. Book signing to follow.

Wright Library is committed to providing a safe atmosphere for our guests.
Given the sensitive nature of this event, an officer from Oakwood Public Safety will attend.
