The Wright Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees swore in Joseph M. Fulford as trustee Monday, Sept. 20.
An Oakwood resident since 1987, Fulford is an engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He has volunteered with Oakwood schools, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, CAREWalk and as a Montgomery County Ohio College Promise Mentor.
“Since moving to Oakwood, Wright Memorial Public Library has always been a special place for me. It did not take Leigh Ann and I long to notice the key role it plays right in the heart of our community--a wonderful and inviting place to catch up with neighbors, read, and learn something new,” Fulford said
Board President Lu Ann Stanley said Fulford’s enthusiasm for the library and appreciation of the historic character of the building will be incredibly valuable as the Board works to meet the changing needs of the Oakwood community while staying true to the library’s historic roots.
Fulford was appointed to fill the unexpired term of resigning member, Jack Pearson. Pearson, who had served on the Board since 2011, announced his resignation June 15, 2015.
“I would be remiss if I did not thank Jack Pearson for his invaluable contributions during his tenure on the Board,” Stanley said.
Fulford’s term will run through December 2020.
“The opportunity to be a part of the library and serve this community, while sitting on a board that once counted Orville Wright as a member, is pretty special. I very much look forward to working with fellow board members, the library staff, and the community to build upon Wright Library's tradition of excellence.”
