Loan Periods, Checkout Limits, and Renewals

Loan Periods

Most items are loaned for three weeks, with a few exceptions.

Borrowing Limits

Newly registered patrons have an initial 60-day period with provisional New Patron Borrowing Limits. 

After 60 days, if your account is in good standing you will be able to borrow:

  • maximum of 150 items
  • up to 25 may be AV items (DVD, Blu-ray), 5 of which may be console games
  • any item in the collection including Library of Things items, although:
    • Signed waiver is required before borrowing Things.
    • Parent signature is required for Thing borrowers under 18.

 


Automatic Renewals

Two days before their due date, most items will renew automatically. However, some items cannot be renewed:

  • Fast Read copies;
  • 7-day Mobile Hotspots;
  • regular items that have already renewed 6 times;
  • items requested by another patron.
  • most interlibrary loans that have already renewed 3 times (see more details about interlibrary loans). In addition, due to an interruption in interlibrary loan services:
    • OhioLINK items will not renew from May 23-October 27, 2025
    • SearchOhio will not renew from August 1-October 27, 2025
